“Diving into a dark hole where the corners of the scene diffuse into shades of grey stone. The ground hardly recognizable, but obviously covered with rotting trash. The smell of boiling oil, that has been used far too long, rising through the drying clothes of unknown people, reflecting the little bit of daylight leaking into the shaft. Savage tubes and cables trailing like serpents down into the deep. Here and there a sound, a voice, a discussion, a guitar – there is life, but unseen. The image remains stable and miserable.”

A lot of ‘cheap’ rooms in Barcelona are situated in the interior part of the building which usually feature a window to a light well. These small funnels support the inner rooms, bathrooms and kitchens with air and light, Although usually only the upper apartments benefit from fresh air and a little bit of daylight.
